Week 1- 03/25/2018 to 03/31/2018

Sunday 03-25-2018

We spent the biggest part of our morning at home and doing laundry. If there is one thing I have a love/hate relationship with, it's the laundromat. The kids did their school work throughout the day and then we attended our cousin Kyson's First Birthday Party! Our evening was filled with Television and Youtube time and lots of relaxing!

Our School Work Consisted of:

Listening to a new Kidz Bop Cd- which was not a hit surprisingly!
(Music)

Seat Work for Axle doing Phonics, Math, Spelling, Time and Money

Seat Work for Lee doing Phonics, Math, Handwriting and Mazes

Reading a new "Create your Own Adventure" Book with Axle- This is the first time we have used these books and he loved it. We will definitely be purchasing more.

Reading Sophia the First with Annalee

Monday 03-26-2018

Monday morning was a "mom time" morning for me. I made a trip to Goodwill and browsed around & then went to the grocery store. Our evening consisted of minimal school work, playing a game, cooking dinner and just chilling out.

Our School Work for the Day was:

Beginning the Burgess Book of Animals- I'm not sure what we think of it yet since we are only on Chapter 1 but I'll update as we continue reading it.
(Nature and Reading)

We learned what a Haiku was and read a book of Haiku Poetry. I'm not sure how much the kids retained but it was a good introduction.
(Poetry and Reading)

We finished another Chapter in our Junie B Jones book. We are currently reading this one and the kids love it. We love all the Junie B. Jones Books.

Axle did some seat work in his Phonics book and he took a Spelling Test. He did well only missing one.

Annalee did 3 pages in her Phonics Workbook and finished it up. She will be moving to Explode the Code Level B

Annalee listened to her Tangled Audio Book and followed along. This was her first time using an Audio Book and I'm not sure if she really enjoyed it or not. We may try another and see in the future.

Annalee and I also read the Wheels on the Bus book. I thought it was super cute, she was not as impressed.

Axle completed another level on his Typing without Tears Program. He really enjoys using this

All of us played Zingo 1-2-3 to help Annalee with number recognition. I purchased this game at the Goodwill but would totally buy it at full price. The kids really enjoyed it and it really does help Annalee with recognizing her numbers and counting!
(Math)

We also set out some ant traps because we are battling ants right now. Annalee really enjoyed watching the ants all march around the traps. Unfortunately they didn't get in them but at least it was a school lesson!

Tuesday 3-27-2018

SJ had a doctors appointment for 4 injections in his neck. We were there for what seemed like forever! That pretty much summed up most of our day. The only other thing we did was manage to get a little school work done, some daily chores and dinner made!

For School Work:

We read the second chapter in our Poppleton in the Spring book

We read another chapter in our Junie B. Jones Book

We read from Tadpole to Frog and used our Life Cycle pieces to follow along with it. The kids really enjoyed this and it was a great hands on way for them to learn it.
(Science and Reading)

We used our Frog Life Cycle Spinner to drive home the life cycle even more. We picked the spinner up for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree and it was worth every penny.
(Science)

We also played an animal matching game that I picked up at the Dollar Tree for $1.00. Again, it was a great buy and I was surprised at how well the cards were made for the price. The kids really enjoyed it and Annalee found the frog pairs so she was the winner!

Wednesday 03/28/2018

Wednesday did not go as planned. My cousin called needing a ride to her gallbladder surgery appointment so I ended up dropping everything and taking her. My entire day was pretty much spent at the hospital but she done well and I'm glad she got it over with. When I got home we ordered some dinner out and then spent our rest of our evening in the dark because the electricity went out. It ended up not coming on until sometime Thursday morning.

For School Work:

Sissy finished off the Poppleton Book with the kids- I definitely wasn't impressed with these stories and probably won't purchase again.

The kids watched the movie Pollyanna and from what I gathered, they didn't enjoy it much
(Visual Arts)

The kids painted their Ceramic Easter Crafts and they turned out super cute. They both did two each but Annalee broke one of Axle's before I could get a picture! Annalee thoroughly enjoyed this. She loves doing crafts.
(Art)

Annalee worked 2 pages in her Maze book. She absolutely loves to do her Mazes.

Axle and I discussed what a "Black Out and Generator" was when the electricity went out
(Science)

Annalee played Phonics Island on her Kindle and Axle practiced his Spelling on his Kindle

Thursday 03/29/2018

I had a really lazy Thursday and truly just lounged around most all day long. The kids and I did get some school work done but that was about it. Anika spent the night with a friend so she wasn't here at all today. It's rained off and on all day long & the water is getting pretty high. I did watch a television show with Hubby before bed tonight but that pretty much summed up my day.

For School:

We read the Tale of Peter Rabbit and both kids really seemed to enjoy it

We read another Junie B. Jones chapter and they were so excited about it. We are almost finished up with this book.

We made foam bunnies for Art and they were just adorable
(Art)

Axle did some seat work for Phonics, Time, Money, Math, Writing and Spelling

Annalee did some seat work for Phonics, Math, Logic, Handwriting and Sequencing

Annalee and I read Jack and the Beanstalk which was super cute

Axle and I read his DK John Cena Book and he LOVED it. I will be purchasing more wrestling books for him

Friday 03/30/2018

The day was filled with lunch with daddy and icecream, picking up Sissy, major cleaning of our main living area to rid us of ants and video games. Not what I had planned but that is okay. That is why we unschool, sticking to strict schedules just don't work for us!

For School:

The kids watched HOP the movie in celebration of Easter
(Visual Arts)

Saturday 03/31/2018

Today has seemed like a really long day. The weather was beautiful though and even if it were just for errands, we did get to enjoy some of the sunshine. We went to Walmart so I could get Easter Basket Stuff, we went to the Laundromat and we grabbed a bite to eat while we were out. This evening we done some school work & then Anika and Josh dyed eggs with the kids. We all turned in a bit early due to tomorrow being Easter Sunday!

For School:

We read The Velveteen Rabbit-  It was a seriously cute read
(Literature)

We finished up Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine. The kids are still loving this collection and have already picked out the next book they want to read
(Literature)

Seat Work for Axle today was Phonics, Spelling, Handwriting, Addition Practice and his Grammar Lesson and Grammar Workbook

Seat Work for Annalee today was Phonics (Letter P sound), Counting, Handwriting and Sequencing. Annalee is really struggling with the concept "before" such as ___, 8, 9

Annalee also worked in her Mazes Book which is a favorite of hers
(Logic)

Annalee and I also read "Tom Thumb" and even though Axle wasn't required or even asked, he came in and joined us. Huge Mom Score for me!!!
(Literature)

I also tested Annalee over her uppercase Alphabet today and she got them all right. Next week we will move on to lowercase.
(Phonics)

The kids dyed eggs for Easter and had a great time plus they turned out cute
